Clarice McIver Weeks, 88, of Oxford passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020, at her home in Oxford. She was born August 17, 1931, in Savage, Miss., to Otis and Lottie McIver. Two weeks before her 16th birthday, she was walking with her friend and noticed a handsome man repairing a telephone line. His name was James Weeks. They went out that night with a group of friends in his convertible. Clarice and James were married six weeks later. They eventually settled in Cleveland, Miss., where they lived for almost 40 years. She was a devoted wife to James, aka “Papa Weeks” and loving mother to Nancy, Jimmy, and Ginger. She and Papa were married for 70 years before he passed away in 2018. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and joyful spirit. She loved to watch sports and was a big basketball fan. She worked hard raising her children and grandchildren. She was deeply devoted to her family, always putting them first. She was kind and welcoming and never met a stranger.

Clarice was active in her church and community. After Papa retired, they moved to his hometown of West, Miss. She was a faithful member of the West Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the West Civic Club and enjoyed helping with various projects to restore parts of downtown West. She and Papa also restored a beautiful 1880s home, which they lovingly named “the Magnolias”. She would spend months each year decorating for Christmas and putting Christmas trees in every room.

Clarice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Weeks, Sr. “Papa”; father, Otis McIver; mother, Lottie McIver; sister, Geneva McIver; brother, Herbert McIver; daughter, Nancy Heinsz; and son-in-law, Greg Heinsz. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Weeks (Cynthia); daughter, Ginger Weeks; brother, Bo McIver (Lana); grandchildren, Chip Chudy (Wendy), Jamye McClellan (Jason), Wendy Fuller (Todd), Mendy Foster (Totten), Emily Weeks, Whitney Bondurant (Alex), McKenzie Wills (Dakota), and Madison Cobb; great-grandchildren, Chad Chudy, Reed Chudy, Mia
