A male pedestrian was airlifted to a Memphis hospital after being struck by a vehicle on College Hill Road this past Sunday. 

The incident occurred near the Sky Mart gas station, according to the Oxford Police Department. Deputy Chief Sheridan Maiden confirmed to the EAGLE that the male was taken to The Med with serious injuries to his collar bone, spleen and kidney, as well as bleeding of the brain. 

According to a GoFundMe page, the victim was identified as Sean Brown, who was returning to his home after his shift at a restaurant on the Downtown Square had ended. Brown is an employee at both Oxford Grillehouse and Julep Steakhouse. 

Brown’s injuries were treated, according to Maiden, but he is still in the hospital recovering. 

Maiden also said the driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene and was cooperative. There were statements taken from eyewitnesses as well. 

Amanda Wells, who created the GoFundMe page, stated Brown was showing signs of brain activity and was able to squeeze his mother’s hand, but was still on a ventilator. As of 12:40 p.m. on Tuesday, $2,520 had been raised, surpassing the $2,500 goal.
