Two separate cases involving former Oxford and Lafayette teachers will continue to wait for their day in court.

Continuances were filed on Jan. 6, delaying the cases of Molly Wray and James Reidy for at least three more months. The orders of continuance were filed by defense attorney Tony Farese, who represents both defendants.

Wray, 27, was a math teacher at Lafayette High School. She is facing a charge of enticement of a minor after allegedly enticing a 17-year-old male who was a student at Lafayette High School in November of 2017. Wray was indicted in September 2018 by a Lafayette County grand jury and arraigned the following month. Farese has filed six continuances in Wray’s case since October of 2018.

She is currently out on a $10,000 bond, but could face between five to 40 years if convicted and could pay a fine between $100,000 and $1 million.

Reidy, 55, was a former physics teacher at Oxford High School and is facing two charges of sexual battery by a person having authority over the victim. He was arrested in September 2017 by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department after receiving a phone call from the Oxford Police Department saying they had received information from the Department of Human Services that Reidy was having sex with a student.

A Lafayette County grand jury indicted Reidy in February 2018 and since his arraignment, Farese has filed seven continuances. He is currently out on a $25,000 bond.

The next trial term for Lafayette County begins in April, which is the earliest either case could go to court.
