Obituary – David Edgar Galloway

David Edgar Galloway, 97, died with his family at his bedside in Sunset, Texas, on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, at William C. Martin United Methodist Church in Bedford, Texas, with Rev. Laura Whitley Franklin officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie, Texas.
Dave was born July 19, 1922, in College Hill, Miss., to George Washington “Squire” Galloway and Nellie Reaves Galloway. Dave served his country in the Navy Sea Bees (CB’s – Construction Brigade) as a Lt JG.
Dave married his sweetheart, Merle Esterak, on December 22, 1945, in Wallis, Texas. He began his professional career with Humble Oil & Refining Company in 1947 as a surveyor and retired in 1988 from Exxon in Anchorage, AK, as a Sr. Engineer. Dave was an active member of the William C. Martin United Methodist Church in Bedford.
He is preceded in death by his parents, four older brothers, and three older sisters. Dave is survived by his wife of almost 74 years, Merle Galloway; his three sons, D. Michael Galloway, and wife, Janny, of Terrero, N.M., Rev. Jerry P. Galloway, and wife, Betty, of Sunset, and Chris Galloway, and wife, Pebble, of Bedford; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
