Florence Viola Vickers Burton, 85, died at her home in Oxford on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018. The funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Fish Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Eastover Memorial Cemetery in Oxford. The visitation will be held prior to the service from noon until service time.
Born in Sinton, Texas to the late James Alexander and Sibbie Florence Blissit Vickers, Mrs. Burton, the widow of Mr. Robert Lee Burton, was a member of North Oxford Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and being a part of the B.A.L.L. Team (Be Active Live Longer). Florence loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Church and family were the center of her life.
Mrs. Burton is survived by two daughters, Debra Lynne Bramlett and her husband, Jimmy, of Oxford and Mona Lee Smith of Tyler, Texas; three sisters, Dorothy Lacomb of Kenner, La., Lois Winn of Corpus Christi, Texas and Ruth McCumber of Alice, Texas; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Burton’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
