Ole Miss added one of the nation’s top junior college prospects to its 2019 recruiting class Wednesday.
Jones County Junior College safety Jonathan Haynes has committed to the Rebels, according to multiple reports. Haynes, a consensus three-star prospect, chose Ole Miss over offers from Memphis, Purdue and Colorado among others.
The 6-foot, 205-pound Haynes is ranked the No. 37 overall junior college prospect and the No. 3 junior college safety in the 247Sports.com composite rankings. He had 30 tackles and an interception for the Bobcats last season as a freshman.
Haynes is the 24th commitment in the Rebels’ class and the fourth safety commitment. Ole Miss will lose starter Zedrick Woods and fellow safety C.J. Moore to graduation after this season.
With Haynes’ verbal pledge, Ole Miss’ class is ranked 13th nationally and fifth in the SEC in the 247Sports composite.
Demetric Warren of Varsity Preps first reported the commitment.
