Marie Foust Walker, died Thursday, June 21, 2018, at her home in Oxford. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 25, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Burnett and Rev. Don Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday evening, June 24, 2018, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born in Lafayette County to the late Hubbard O. and Jessie Holleman Foust, Mrs. Walker was an active member of Clear Creek Baptist Church where she taught in Training Union and GA’s. She was a very active part of the Burgess/Clear Creek community where she was involved in the Burgess Homemaker’s Club and enjoyed taking food to friends in need. In addition, she served on the Lafayette County Homemaker’s Council.
Mrs. Walker delighted in making beautiful quilts for many years. She greatly enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, including canning vegetables and making pickles. She had a great love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Aubrey Walker; sisters, Bertha Ayles and Naomi Tubbs, and brothers, Johnnie Foust and Charlie Foust.
She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Mason and her husband, Robert of Oxford, and Rebecca Grier of Calhoun City, Miss.; sister, Ruth Tillman Love of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandchildren, Steven Bennett, Carla-Jo Rutledge and her husband, Tony, Terry Bennett and his wife, Kayla, and Karen Mehan and her husband, Daniel, as well as three great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kristen Bennett and Aubrey Mehan.
