Barry Ross Smith, 67, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at his home in Oxford. The memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with The Rev. Jody Burnett, The Rt. Rev. Duncan M. Gray, III, The Rev. Penny Sisson and The Rev. Ann Whitaker officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.    

Born in Oxford to the late Ashford Hunt and Ruby Evelyn Bonds Smith, Barry was a retired Maintenance Supervisor with Mid-Valley Pipeline Company where he worked from 1974 until 2006.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and also a member of Boy Scout Troop 45 and a former Scout Master of Troop 144. He was an elected board member for Northeast Mississippi Electric Power Association for 25 years.

Barry was a very talented mechanic and found great joy in fixing old motors and bringing things back to life. He very much enjoyed time spent with family and friends, cooking and baking and relaxing at the cabin.

After retirement, Barry enjoyed working and socializing at Belk Ford in the Parts Department.

Survivors include his wife, Kitty K. Smith of Oxford; son, Wesley Ashford Smith of Oxford; daughter, Whitney Smith Turner and her husband, Matt of Oxford; and one grandson, Zander Turner.
