Douglas Lee Carter

Douglas Lee Carter, 52, passed away at his home in Water Valley, Miss., on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018. He was born in Oxford, Miss. on June 28, 1965 to Betty Redwine and Fred Lee Carter.
A manager in the retail business, he also served as a reserve deputy sheriff for the Yalobusha County Sheriff’s Department. He was a very likable person, who never met a stranger and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
An avid football fan of the Water Valley Blue Devils and Mississippi State Bulldogs, he especially enjoyed serving as a broadcaster for Water Valley football on TV and radio.
Douglas leaves behind his sister, Christy Carter of Water Valley, Miss.; his extended family, whom he loved dearly, and a multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018 in the chapel of Dickins Funeral Home in Batesville, Miss.
Interment will follow in Sylva Rena Cemetery in Water Valley. Visitation will be held at Dickins Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., preceding the services. Dickins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
