Mrs. Edna Ruth Burkley, 78, passed away at the Yalobusha Nursing Home in Water Valley, Miss., on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018. A visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018 at Coleman Funeral Home beginning at 11a.m., until 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at 1 p.m. Bro. Fish Robinson will officiate. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burkley was born in January 1939, in Water Valley. She was a quintessential social butterfly – she enjoyed talking to people and making new friends. Mrs. Burkley was crazy about puzzles, and enjoyed doing word searches and painting different things. But most of all, Mrs. Burkley treasured her time she spent with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Mrs. Burkley leaves behind her daugher, Glinda (Stanley) Tallant of Pontotoc, Miss.; her sister, Velma Fortner of Oxford; her daughter -in-law, Lisa Harris, also of Oxford; as well as 14 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Burkley joins her three sons, Earnest Harris, Harvey Harris and Curtis Harris; her daughter, Wanda Arrington; as well as her parents, Russell and Ruby Tidwell; and her brother, Doyle Tidwell in heaven.

Memorials and contributions may be made in honor of Mrs. Edna Burkley to the Pine Flat United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund (294 Hwy 328 Oxford, MS 38655).
