Homecoming is always a winner

There’s something about an Ole Miss Homecoming week in Oxford.
It’s even better when the skies are clear. The forecast for Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt reveals it will be a bit warm, with temperatures in the mid-80s, but the sun will be shining so it is hard to complain.
Fans attending football at Vaught-Hemingway for the 2:30 p.m. kickoff will just need to remember sunscreen and money for plenty of water.
Otherwise, everything looks good as Oxford, Ole Miss and the Grove come back to life with a home game. It’s rare to have our first SEC contest here this late in the year. Mid-October?
The schedule just worked out odd this year, but we get to make up with it beginning with homecoming this Saturday and a string of big games here.
The schedule around town is full this week, with activities on campus from a Town Hall meeting today to various entertainment in Oxford. Family and friends will be visiting and the Square will be back in full action once again.
Some may worry that the Rebels are a bit down in football this season, having lost three games in a row. But we’ve learned over the years that an October Homecoming at Ole Miss will just about always be a winner.
