Fall 2017 arrives for the community

Welcome to the Fall 2017 semester. It’s now officially game on.
Our locals schools have been at it for two weeks now, with classes already giving tests.
High school football season gets started tonight, with Oxford playing at Vicksburg, Lafayette playing at Cleveland Central and Water Valley playing at Eupora.
Yes, we are ready for some football.
The season will prove extra exciting with Oxford moving up to Class 6A and Lafayette moving up to Class 5A.
But that’s not all since Oxford is now just about in full swing. A new class of Ole Miss freshman is moving in and classes on campus begin Monday, which ironically happens to be the day of the (almost) total solar eclipse.
It’s not lost on many that the Rebels begin the football season two weeks from Saturday, a date which will bring the Grove to life for another season and thousands of guests will pour into Oxford.
We always enjoy the quiet summer but our city and university were literally made to serve education and there is no time that education shine like the beginning of a fall semester.
This is our time, our season.
Let’s enjoy, giving it a strong and enjoyable go together.
