Southside Gallery welcomes an exhibition of landscape paintings curated by Philip R. Jackson that will be on display through June 5th.

Jackson, a local artist and University of Mississippi painting professor, will select paintings by UM students who participated in his intensive Summer Plein Air painting course to be included in the exhibition.  The exhibition will also feature paintings by visiting artist, Brian Rego.

The Plein Air exhibition gives students and emerging artists an opportunity to showcase their work in a gallery.  The exhibition has been popular with gallery visitors over the years.

Generally, the exhibition features more than fifteen different painters and as many as 100 paintings or more — many of them smaller works.  The paintings are hung over the course of a week, most brought in the day they are completed — hence the title, “Fresh Paint.”

Southside Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday 11 am to 3 pm.
