Elizabeth Roane Mann

Elizabeth Roane Mann passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.  She recently celebrated her 103rd birthday on Feb. 12, 2017.  She was the daughter of Sam and Minnelotah Kisner Roane of Oxford and the widow of Jim Mann of Carthage. A graduate of University High School in Oxford, she received her educational degrees from Blue Mountain College and the University of Mississippi.  She was a retired schoolteacher, having taught in Tremont, Glen Allan, and Jackson public schools, all in Mississippi. She was a member of First Baptist Church, a resident of Brookdale Retirement Community and a member of the Women’s Forum.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Allen and Father Wilson Roane officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

She is survived by nieces Betty Fudge of Atlanta, Georgia, Emily Roane of Burlington, Iowa, Kathy Roane of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, Ann Hopping, Susan Roane and Stephanie Roane all of Greensboro, North Carolina; nephews Wilson Roane of Waupaca, Wisconsin, Danny Roane of Evanston, IL and William Roane, Jr. of Greensboro, North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Fudge and three brothers, Sam Roane Jr., Kearney Roane and William Roane.

Elizabeth was a true Southern lady, a wonderful Christian and was loved by all who knew her. Earth’s loss is Heaven’s gain.
