Local Boys & Girls Club seeking donations
Published 10:41 am Tuesday, February 7, 2017
Our local Boys & Girls Club serves 150 children every day after school. The Club is a safe and positive place where children complete their homework and then have some fun. By many measures, the Boys & Girls Club helps LOU children become their best selves. Our programs emphasize traditional academics but also give children opportunities to garden, cook, write stories, sing, and create art.
We have a fabulous new director, Kenorus Wilson. He is a homegrown leader with an Ole Miss degree and many years of Club experience. Kenorus, along with his staff of part-time employees and volunteers, works with limited resources to create a structured, optimistic environment for the children of our town.
The Boys & Girls Club is one of Oxford’s best programs. Funding this operation is always a challenge. We rely on gifts from local businesses, organizations like the United Way, and private individuals. We have been successful because of this generosity, but our monthly budget is always close to the red.
Our annual fundraising campaign is happening now. Please consider a gift — large or small — to the LOU Boys & Girls Club. All gifts are tax-deductible, and 100 percent of your donation stays here in Oxford to help the children of our community. Checks should be made payable to the Boys & Girls Clubs of North MS (or BGCNMS) and then delivered or mailed to the Clubhouse at 413 Washington Avenue, Oxford, MS 38655. Please make a donation today.
