Ole Miss women’s basketball cruises to exhibition win

The Ole Miss women’s basketball team had an easy go of it in its tuneup.
Senior guard and Oxford native Erika Sisk led four Rebels in double figures with a game-high 19 points, and Ole Miss romped to a 93-40 exhibition win over Mississippi College on Friday at the Pavilion. Ole Miss will open the season next Friday at home against Southeastern Louisiana.
Sisk added nine assists for the Rebels, who led 42-13 at the half and by as many as 54. Center Taylor Manuel, a graduate transfer from Loyola Chicago, went 6 of 7 from the field to finish with 16 points. Madinah Muhammad had 15 points while Shandricka Sessom added 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Ole Miss played 11 players with 10 of them scoring. Ieisha Laccey led Mississippi College with eight points.
The Rebels shot 54 percent from the floor and 41 percent (7 of 17) from 3-point range while holding the Choctaws to 30 percent from the field. Ole Miss got a lot of extra possessions by forcing 32 turnovers and scoring 40 points off of them but committed 21 turnovers of its own.
Next week’s season opener will tip at 2:30 p.m.
