Separate but equal wrong for schools
Properly educating all citizens of Mississippi regardless of their socioeconomic status or race is the only way this state can hope to compensate for years of mistreatment of nearly half of its population through intimidation of the KKK, Citizen Council, the indignities of segregation, and current efforts at voter suppression. So any plans to reinstitute separate but equal (or more) in our education system should be avoided, especially, in light of inadequate funding which, as TJ Ray points out (The underfunding of MAEP, The Oxford Eagle,30 Sep 2016) is a moral failure at the highest levels of State Government.
