Attempted armed robbery reported

The Oxford Police Department is investigating an alleged attempted armed robbery that was reported on Sunday just after midnight.
According to the report, at about 12:07 p.m. officers were approached by a male who told them that two black men had attempted to rob him at gunpoint. The alleged victim said he was walking on Van Buren Avenue headed west when the two suspects grabbed him and pulled him into an alley. One of the males held the victim while the other pointed a weapon. They demanded the alleged victim give them whatever money he had on him, but the complainant told officers he managed to jerk away and run. An OPD officer was nearby on a traffic stop and the alleged victim told the officer what happened.
A search of the area was conducted but no one was found.
No injuries were reported and no property was taken.
The case is under investigation.
