The Mississippi State Department of Health has issued boil water alerts for the Town of Abbeville, as well as the Anchor Water Association and Turner Springs Water Association. Approximately 430 customers in Abbeville are being affected, while more than 2,000 Anchor Water Association customers and 200 Tuner Springs Water Association customers are impacted.
Sampling by the MSDH showed the presence of total coliform bacteria in the drinking water at all three locations.
Health officials strongly recommend that all water be boiled vigorously for one minute before it is consumed.
This precaution will last at least two days and water system officials will be immediately notified when the boil water alert is lifted.
