A Waterford man was arrested Sunday for allegedly assaulting his pregnant ex-wife.

According to the Oxford Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance. While there, the alleged victim reported that her ex-husband, Jerimia Lawson, strangled her and then kicked her in the stomach. She is six months pregnant and was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Lawson was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center and charged with domestic violence with aggravated assault. He is being held on a $10,000 bond.

According to OPD, it does not appear the unborn child suffered an injury at this time.
