Moody scores 23, Rebels hold off Auburn

AUBURN, Ala.— Stefan Moody had 23 points on 8-of-18 shooting and Ole Miss topped Auburn 69-59 on Saturday.
Ole Miss (17-10, 7-7 SEC) led 40-33 at halftime and the 5-foot-11 Moody opened the second half with a block and a breakaway dunk.
Auburn (10-16, 4-10) cut the deficit to four points early in the half, but Ole Miss consistently repelled any rallies from there that the Tigers tried to string together.
The Tigers jumped out to an early 7-2 lead, but Moody keyed an Ole Miss scoring spurt that put the Rebels up by as many as eight points in the first half.
Cinmeon Bowers had 11 points and 17 rebounds for Auburn. Horace Spencer added six points, nine rebounds and five blocks.
Marcanvis Hymon poured in 12 points for Ole Miss, which bounced back after losing to Texas A&M on Tuesday.
Tyler Harris had 13 points and seven rebounds for Auburn, but he exited the game with a head injury midway through the second half.
The Tigers got was to within four points when T.J. Dunans’ layup with 14:39 remaining made it 46-42, but Tomasz Gielo’s 3-pointer extended the lead back out to seven.
