2nd Annual Oxford Blues Festival launches Friday, July 21

OXFORD TOWN – The blues will heat up Oxford this weekend, featuring 25 acts from four states as the 2nd Annual Oxford Blues Festival launches at venues all over town beginning Friday, July 22. Performers for the festival include Eddie C. Campbell (pictured here), Effie Burt, Matt Gaylord of The AM Band, Jay Lang & The Devil’s Due and Andrew Hancock of The Hancock Co. The Sixth Annual Hill Country Picnic cranks up this weekend at Foxfire Ranch

OXFORD TOWN –  The wildly popular Hill Country Picnic returns, featuring a venue change and tons of great local and regional talent set to rock the weekend away. Get Revived! The Oxford Rhythm Revival returns this weekend

OXFORD TOWN – Gear up for one of the coolest “revivals” in the region as the 2011 version of the Oxford Rhythm Revival cranks up around the Oxford Square this Saturday (June 18). Mississippi native Lynn Drury, Memphis legend rocker Keith Sykes, Shannon McNally, fiddle prodigy Ruby Jane (pictured), Gina Sexton, Marlena Jarjoura and Taylor Hildebrand are just of few of the names that will keep Oxford jumping this Saturday night. The fun begins on Saturday morning on the Courthouse lawn and continues until the last note is played at Proud Larry’s, Rooster’s Blues House and Soulshine Pizza at midnight. Andy Friedman rocks Proud Larry’s tonight

OXFORD TOWN – New York rocker Andy Friedman will play at Proud Larry’s tonight (Thursday, May 12) at 8 p.m. Caleb Stine is scheduled to open the show with Cary Hudson taking the stage after Friedman. Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors double up

OXFORD TOWN – Drew Holcomb (pictured with wife Ellie on the cover this week) & The Neighbors join the live broadcast of Thacker Mountain Radio at Off Square Books tonight (April 7) at 6. Later tonight, the band performs at Proud Larry’s with special guest Mockingbird Sun scheduled to open the show. The Nashville quintet is touring in support of its new album, “Chasing Someday,” and are featured on Pages 10 and 15 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town. (April 7, 2011, Page 10, 15)

LeVere, Mize tag team Oxford this Saturday

OXFORD TOWN – Cheyenne Marie Mize and Amy LaVere (pictured) will share a bill this Saturday (March 12) at Proud Larry’s, one of Oxford’s most beloved music venues. Mize, based out of Louisville, Ky., and Memphian LaVere, are guaranteed to bring a classic dose of folk music to Oxford and the Proud Larry’s stage this Saturday night. Doors for the show open at 7 p.m. and music is set to begin at 8.
