Youth leagues can teach more than the youth

A recent trip to watch some summer league baseball in Water Valley brought on some exciting action, but also a disturbing exchange involving a fan, a player and an umpire. Different styles produce wins for OHS

Both Oxford High basketball squads secured a spot in the MHSAA Class 5A Playoffs next week and a spot in the Division 2-5A championship games with wins over Saltillo at the OHS gym Tuesday night.
The similarities to the two teams’ victories stop there though, as the Lady Chargers cruised to an 83-35 win and the Chargers had to fight off a late run by the Tigers to win 62-55. (February 8, 2012, Page 6)

Take it seriously, you’re a millionaire

Oxford EAGLE Assistant News Editor Jeff Eubanks got the call the other day – he’d won the Jamaican lottery and $1.5 million.   The big problem, Eubanks writes in recalling the conversation with the guy trying to give him the money (for a fee), was that he never entered the Jamaican lottery. (February 2, 2012, Page 4)
