Olympic skier visits with fellow diabetics

Olympic skier Kris Freeman spent a day with 94 children at Camp Hopewell’s Diabetes Camp this week. Freeman was diagnosed with diabetes at 19 years old and has competed in three winter Olympics despite his illness. (June 29, 2012, Page 1B, 3B)

BMX races may start in fall

The BMX track at FNC park is almost complete. A BMX specialist could be in Oxford in July. After the track is completed, the Oxford Park Commission has 90 days to hold its first BMX sanctioned race. Little relief from blistering heat

Temperatures are expected to hit 103 this weekend and could feel more like 105 to 114 with the heat index as humidity levels begin to climb today. Oxford to mark 175th birthday

Oxford will be celebrating its 175th birthday starting Saturday during the first Happy Birthday Oxford! Summer Fest sponsored by the Oxford Downtown Council. Along with a sidewalk sale from Square stores, family-orientated events will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday on the Courthouse lawn. (June 27, 2012, Page 1)
