WINONA — Water Valley coach Kary Bridges wanted his team to “add on” heading into the final inning against Winona on Saturday afternoon.

    Devils exorcise demons, eliminate Winona

    WATER VALLEY — Friday night was a satisfying night for the Water Valley football team on multiple levels.

    Not only did the Blue Devils advance to the third round of the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs with a 23-14 victory at Bobby Clark Field, but they also exorcised some demons by eliminating the same Winona Tigers that ended their 2010 season. (November 14, 2011, Page 3B)

      Blue Devils looking to avenge loss to Tigers

      Last year the Winona Tigers ended Water Valley’s season early… too early if you ask the Blue Devils.

        Blue Devils fall to Winona

        Winona was able to defeat Water Valley for the first time in division play Friday with a 5-4 win in eight innings over the Blue Devils baseball team.

        Drew Pratt was saddled with the loss. Walt McCullough led the Blue Devils at the plate with a home run, double and a single. Cole Camp had two singles, while Adam Langham had a double. WVHS will be back in action with Winona on Tuesday starting with a junior varsity game at 5 p.m. (March 28, 2011, Page 2B)

            Mistakes end Blue Devils’ playoffs

            All season the Water Valley Blue Devils had been a team that made the most of opportunities and cashed in on other team’s mistakes.

                  Motivated Blue Devils come up big against Winona

                  “Controlled chaos” is how Water Valley defensive coordinator Richard Russo described the play of his Blue Devils on Friday night.
