Jessica Pearson always had a knack of turning nothing into something.

Lady ‘Dores complete season sweep
The Lafayette volleyball team earned a season sweep of Region 2 rival Water Valley Tuesday with a convincing 3-0 (25-13, 25-8, 25-11) victory at the LHS gym.
Tuesday’s match was a far cry from Lafayette’s Aug. 29 performance at Water Valley in which the Lady Commodores were forced to regroup several times in order to pull out the sweep. (more…) (September 19, 2012, Page 7)
Lady ‘Dores gain steam in win at WV
WATER VALLEY — Monday’s volleyball match was definitely a struggle for the Water Valley Lady Blue Devils and the visiting Lafayette Lady Commodores.
Early on, both squads struggled to serve consistently and make the basic plays necessary to build a lead.
As the match progressed, however, Lafayette made the necessary adjustments to claim a 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-11) victory at Water Valley. (August 28, 2012, Page 7)
Water Valley fends off NAHS
The Water Valley volleyball team got its season off to a good start with a tight win over startup New Albany on Tuesday. The Lady Blue Devils were able to fend off the visiting Lady Bulldogs to the tune of 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-23) win. Next up for Water Valley is an away match against Byhalia on Aug. 23. Versatile Smith took her game to another level
Heading into this season Lafayette volleyball coach Rachel Wenzel was faced with a rather large problem: How could the Lady Commodores replace the production and leadership that left along with the graduated senior class?
She knew it would be no easy task, but senior middle blocker Ashley Smith went to Wenzel and requested that her coach trust her enough to allow her to play all the way around, rather than be substituted in the back row. (more…) (October 26, 2011, Page 1B)
Lafayette downs improved Lady Devils
WATER VALLEY — The Water Valley volleyball team has showed marked improvement over the course of the last two weeks.
After being over-powered on Aug. 25 at Lafayette, the Lady Blue Devils played a competitive match in the return trip on Thursday, falling to the Lady Commodores 3-1 (26-24, 25-18, 24-26, 25-21).
Even if the end result was still a loss, it was obvious at Water Valley’s auxiliary gym that the Lady Blue Devils have made significant strides as a team under first-year coach Casey Clouse. (September 9, 2011, Page 8A)

Prep volleyball set to get going
While the area football teams are braving the blistering heat, the prep volleyball squads are busting their tails in their respective gyms preparing for their season openers. While Oxford opens its season this weekend in Jackson at the Set It Off Challenge, Lafayette and Water Valley begin on Tuesday.
Water Valley will be led by first-year coach Casey Clouse, who admits it could be an interesting first season with the Lady Blue Devils. (August 5, 2011, Page 9A)
WVHS tabs Clouse as next softball coach
With an emphasis on the future, Water Valley has hired Hollandale-Simmons coach Casey Clouse to lead its softball program.
The hiring of Clouse was officially approved at the Water Valley Schoolboard meeting on April 4. She will replace Kendra Bensch, who announced earlier this season that she will be relocating with her family during the summer. (April 18, 2011, Page 3B)
