WATER VALLEY — The No. 3 seed Water Valley boys basketball team turned a fast start into convincing 72-45 win against No. 6 seed Mantachie in the final matchup of the opening round of the Division 2-3A Tournament on Tuesday night at WVHS gymnasium. (February 13, 2013, Page 8)

      Defensive adjustments key WVHS in win

      WATER VALLEY — A late second half surge, sparked by better play on defense and the scoring of KeKe Farrow, proved to be the difference between a win and a loss for the Water Valley Lady Blue Devils on Monday night. Farrow scored all 14 of her points in the fourth quarter to rally the Lady Blue Devils, who defeated South Panola 49-44. (December 18, 2012, Page 8)

        WVHS win leaves Sherman speechless

        ABERDEEN — It’s not often that John Sherman, Water Valley’s veteran boys basketball coach, is at a loss of words following a game. But after watching his Blue Devils rally from a seven-point deficit in the final three minutes of play, on the road against an opponent that clearly had the upper hand, even Sherman had to stop and collect his thoughts about how Water Valley topped Mantachie 64-57. (February 8, 2012, Page 8)

          New Albany no match for WVHS in grand opener

          WATER VALLEY—The first time was the charm for the Water Valley girls softball team on Friday against the New Albany Lady Bulldogs. Playing on their brand new softball field, and in front of a capacity crowd, the Lady Blue Devils routed New Albany 14-1 in five innings. (March 22, 2010, Page 10)

            Four Blue Devils honored

            Two players each from the Water Valley girls and boys basketball teams were named recently to the All-Region 2-3A team.
            Earning a spot on the girls team were C.C. Phillips and Ashley Phillips, while Tavi Toles and Matt Dalton both represent the boys team.

            Jamelia Hoskins of Aberdeen was named the girls Player of the Year, while Anthony McDonald of Aberdeen won the boys top award. Latorrence Bivens of Aberdeen was named Girls Coach of the Year, while the Boys Coach of the year was Roy Hazzle of Aberdeen. (March 15, 2010)

                WVHS nips Oxford in extra innings

                PREP SOFTBALL — The Water Valley Lady Blue Devils overcame bitterly cold temperatures to defeat the Oxford Lady Chargers 16-15 in the fastpitch softball opener for both teams Tuesday night at Stone Park. Courtney True drove in the game-winning RBI for the Lady Blue Devils in the top of the eighth inning, while pitcher Kelsey Kimzey secured the win in the circle after fielding a ground ball she coaxed OHS into hitting in the bottom of the frame. (March 2, 2010, Page 9)

                  Griffin leads Lady Dragons past WVHS

                  WATER VALLEY GIRLS HOOPS — Three days after earning a character-building win over South Pontotoc, the Water Valley Lady Blue Devils were unable to recapture that spark in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs, falling to M.S.-Palmer 65-55. Lady Dragons’ Bridgette Griffin had a game-high 27 points. (February 16, 2010, Page 8)
