Blue Devils travel to face Nettleton in 2-3A

The Water Valley Blue Devils will take a three-game winning streak with them Friday when they travel east to face Nettleton in a Region 2-3A showdown.

The Tigers enter Friday’s matchup in the midst of a major rebuild.

Nettleton (1-7 overall, 1-1 Region 2-3A) has had a tough go of it this season under new head coach Mike Scott, who replaced Jack Clark seven months ago. (October 11, 2012, Page 8)

Oxford LB Adams earns POW honor

Oxford’s success on defense this season can be attributed to the play of many standout players. Against Lake Cormorant last Friday specifically, senior Jarquis Adams recorded nine tackles, three tackles for a loss and one sack in the Chargers’ 26-0 win. It was the second time this year the ninth-ranked Chargers have earned a shutout and absolutely stoned an opponent from a yardage standpoint. (Lake Cormorant had negative 11 yards at the half). Adams’ play earned him this week’s Player of the Week honors, his first this season. (October 9, 2012, Page 6)

Return of the Mack: LHS QB earns another POW honor

It’s beginning to become a bit of a broken record, but Lafayette is positively OK with that.

During Friday’s 28-13 win at Lewisburg, LHS quarterback Brandon Mack did what has become expected of the super senior, rushing for 126 yards, passing for 115 and accounting for three touchdowns, all the while playing full-time on defense and special teams. (October 2, 2012, Page 7)

WATER VALLEY — This year’s Mooreville Troopers squad isn’t quite the same as last year’s version.
