WVHS gearing up for speedy Tigers

WATER VALLEY — Fresh off of a lopsided victory at South Pontotoc, the Blue Devils must buckle down and prepare for a tough Region 2-3A contest against the Nettleton Tigers on Friday.

Although the Tigers (2-5 overall) are coming off of a 43-7 loss to Aberdeen, Water Valley coach Brad Embry cautioned that his team must be on its A-game against Nettleton. (more…) (October 13, 2011, Page 7)

    Blue Devils’ second-half rally falls short

    WATER VALLEY — Unfortunately for the Blue Devils, football is a game that consists of two halves.

      Blue Devils take care of business, clobber Cougars

      RANDOLPH — Friday night the Water Valley Blue Devils made the short trip east to South Pontotoc and did exactly what head coach Brad Embry wanted them to do by taking care of business.

        Conard’s experience has led to leadership

        WATER VALLEY — During the Water Valley Blue Devils’ difficult loss to Charleston earlier this season, Chris Conard really made his presence felt.

          Blue Devils’ Embry placing focus on his team more than Cougars

          WATER VALLEY — Fresh off of a thrilling overtime victory at Mooreville, the Blue Devils football team isn’t focusing as much on Friday’s opponent, the 2-5 South Pontotoc Cougars, as they are on themselves.

            Water Valley takes two of three from Senatobia

            The Water Valley Blue Devils took two of three games on the gridiron from visiting Senatobia on Tuesday at Bobby Clark Field. The seventh-grade Blue Devils improved to 5-1 on the year with a 28-6 victory, while the sixth-grade squad remained perfect on the season at 6-0 with a 12-6 victory over the Warriors. The junior varsity (2-2) fell in overtime 12-6.

            Water Valley returns to action on Monday, hosting regional foe Bruce at 5:30 p.m. (October 5, 2011, Page 7)

              Bounds’ big game leads to POW honor

              WATER VALLEY — E.J. Bounds showed flashes of his youth at times on Friday.

                    Region games highlight action for area teams

                    Tonight’s a big night for the area’s prep football squads.
