    Blue Devils run around, through CCHS Wildcats

    WATER VALLEY — Calhoun City held a 6-0 lead over Water Valley late in the first half. It looked like the Blue Devils were going to have their first scare of the young season. Then senior quarterback E.J. Bounds and the rest of Water Valley offense woke up, scoring 42 unanswered points for a blowout 42-6 victory over the Wildcats. (September 9, 2013, Page 2B)

          Area teams open 2013 seasons tonight

          Tough pre-regional schedules are the rule rather than the exception for Oxford, Lafayette and Water Valley high schools as they open their 2013 slates tonight. Oxford hosts defending MAIS champion Jackson Prep, Class 4A Lafayette travels to Class 6A Tupelo and Class 3A Water Valley plays at defending Region 2-4A champion New Albany. All three games have 7 p.m. kickoffs and can be heard on local radio stations. (August 23, 2013, Page 7A)

            Blue Devils blow past Mantachie

              Trojans end Blue Devils playoff run

              SPORTS BLOG: CLEVELAND — For the consecutive second season, a loss to Cleveland East Side ended Water Valley’s run in the MHSAA Class 3A playoffs, as the Trojans defeated the Blue Devils 26-24 in their second round matchup Friday night at Leroy Byars Field.                 Area squads set to face region rivals

                With the end of the regular season rapidly approaching, all three area football teams are jostling for region and post-season positioning tonight.
                Water Valley probably headlines the area’s action with a road test at Aberdeen, while Oxford (8-0 overall, 4-0 Region 1-5A) hosts 1-5A foe Saltillo and Lafayette welcomes 2-4A rival Senatobia to William L. Buford Stadium.
                All three games are set for 7 p.m. kickoffs. Oxford’s game can be heard on 95.5 FM, while Water Valley’s will be broadcast on 105.5 FM and Lafayette’s on 93.7 FM. (October 19, 2012, Page 6A)

                  Railroad Trophy Rivalry pulling into the station

                  In 2009, the Water Valley Blue Devils opened their football season with a disappointing 34-25 loss to Coffeeville in the annual Railroad Trophy Rivalry game.
                  And even though Water Valley has claimed lopsided 28-0 and 63-0 victories in subsequent years, the Blue Devils still talk about their last loss to the Pirates. (August 23, 2012, Page 6)

                    Blue Devils have productive first practice

                    WATER VALLEY — Classes don’t officially begin for another week, but that didn’t stop the Blue Devils from getting plenty learned on Monday.
                    With Clark Field serving as the classroom, the Water Valley football team officially began preparing for the upcoming season.
