Lady Devils fall to Pontotoc in season opener

WATER VALLEY— The Water Valley Lady Blue Devils volleyball team officially kicked off their season Thursday night as they hosted the Pontotoc Lady Warriors. It was a rough start to the year for the Lady Devils as they fell to Pontotoc in straight sets by a score of 3-0 (11-25, 12-25, 6-25). (August 15, 2014, Page 7A)

    Blue Devils ‘starting all over’ with roster full of underclassmen

      Area football teams kick off fall practice

      Monday marked the first day of fall practice for high school football teams statewide.         Allman: WVHS ‘close’ to hiring boys hoops coach

        Water Valley’s search for a new boys basketball coach is coming to an end.
        A pool of applicants has been narrowed to a group of five finalists who have been going through interviews for the last two weeks, Water Valley athletic director Trey Allman said. A hire could be made shortly after the holiday weekend. (July 3, 2014, Page 6)

                Devils’ Phillips taking experience to NWCC

                Northwest Mississippi Community College is getting plenty of experience in Tonya Phillips. Phillips, a third baseman and outfielder for Water Valley, signed with the Rangers on Monday and will take her five years as a starter to Senatobia next season. (May 13, 2014, Page 6)

                  Kossuth rallies to end Blue Devils’ season

                  KOSSUTH — Water Valley was five outs away from forcing a Game 3 with the Kossuth Aggies. The Blue Devils were unable to hold off an Aggie charge as Kossuth erased a two-run deficit and beat Water Valley 3-2 in eight innings Saturday. (May 12, 2014, Page 9)

                    Blue Devils set to face familiar foe

                    For the third time in four years, the Water Valley Blue Devils and Kossuth Aggies will have to go through one another in order to advance in the MHSAA Class 3A baseball playoffs. The prize to the victor this year is a trip to the North Half championship. (May 9, 2014, Page 6A)
