Water Valley’s winning streak reached five games with two wins in the Oxford Spring Break Tournament Monday at Edwin Moak Field. The Blue Devils beat Horn Lake 11-6 and Senatobia 8-0. Josh Johnson earned the win on the mound in the win over the Warriors by pitching a complete game, while an eight-run fifth inning helped lift the Blue Devils over the Eagles. Two players each from the Water Valley girls and boys basketball teams were named recently to the All-Region 2-3A team.
Earning a spot on the girls team were C.C. Phillips and Ashley Phillips, while Tavi Toles and Matt Dalton both represent the boys team.
Jamelia Hoskins of Aberdeen was named the girls Player of the Year, while Anthony McDonald of Aberdeen won the boys top award. Latorrence Bivens of Aberdeen was named Girls Coach of the Year, while the Boys Coach of the year was Roy Hazzle of Aberdeen. (March 15, 2010)
