WATER VALLEY — The Wildcats made the most of their limited opportunities and the Blue Devils didn’t.

Blue Devils streaking into posteason
The phrase “getting hot at the right time” definitely applies to the Water Valley Blue Devils. Heading into their MHSAA Class 3A playoff series against Belmont, the Blue Devils have won six straight games and posted an 8-3 mark in April overall. The results have pleased coach Kary Bridges, whose team finished with a 7-3 mark in Division 2-3A play to earn the No. 2 seed.

Blue Devils top Cougars to make 3A playoffs
WATER VALLEY — The smile on Kary Bridges’ face said all that needed to be said about Tuesday’s 4-2 win over South Pontotoc at Blue Devil Field. Water Valley’s baseball leader may not have any hair later this week — Bridges made a bet he was to shave his head if his team won — because of the Blue Devils’ most recent 2-3A victory that garnered them a spot in the playoffs, but he likely won’t care.
