Vintage turntables get new life
Inheriting his father’s technical mind, Jeff Walin began studying electronics as a high school student and today also tinkers with speakers, guitars and other sound equipment. Is it time to dust off the turntable, albums?
To many in the younger generation, an “album” is a collection of songs, almost always on a compact disc. To others of us, as Editor Don Whitten writes, it’s a collection of songs on a vinyl record that comes along with artwork, lyrics and several other things in a neat album cover. Perhaps there’s a return coming to the days of vinyl and real album covers; one local store that just opened certainly hopes so. (March 5, 2012, Page 4A)
