        A day of appreciation

        Veterans and those who support them spent Monday morning honoring those who gave all for the freedoms everyone enjoys each day during the annual Memorial Day Ceremony held at the National Guard Armory. (May 31, 2011, Page 1)

          Area residents will have three programs this Memorial Day to give everyone a chance to honor those who gave all.

          — Community service at 10 a.m. at the National Guard Armory in Oxford; guest speaker will be Don Hutson

          — Mississippi State Veteran’s Home at 10 a.m.; guest speaker will be SP5 Jimmy C. Reed Jr.

              Hospital gives veterans a good night’s sleep

              Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi donated $15,000 toward 10 new electrical beds for the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford recently. (April 13, 2011, Page 2)

                Veterans Park closer to fundraising goal

                The VFW, American Legion, Order of the Purple Heart and Disabled American Veterans have been holding several fundraisers over the past year to raise money toward building the park that will be located on Veterans Boulevard, across from the Veterans State Home. So far, a pavilion with bathrooms has been constructed. The land has been cleared and lights have been installed along with some benches. Fundraising efforts continue with an upcoming Valentine’s Day raffle. (February 3, 2011, Page 2)

                  We need to meet all veterans’ needs
