Local police were kept busy during the weekend between traffic and arrests but overall, officials say things ran much smoother for the LSU game than last week’s Texas A&M game.
Local police made 75 arrests this weekend after the population of Oxford doubled when the Rebels played the University of Texas. One of the arrests was that of a former Ole Miss student who was tackled by officers when he ran onto the field during halftime in his boxers, at one point mooning the crowd. While the Ole Miss Rebels didn’t have much success in its game against LSU Saturday, local law enforcement officers were successful in rounding up those who stepped out of the legal bounds of the community. (November 22, 2011, Page 2)
Officers from several local law enforcement agencies responded to the Mississippi Federal Credit Union Bank on West Jackson Avenue on Wednesday to offer assistant to the Oxford Police Department in its pursuit of an alleged bank robber that resulted in the arrest of a Marks man.
