      LOU community named sustainable gold community

      Leadership in sustainability has earned the Lafayette, Oxford and University of Mississippi  community the designation of Valley Sustainable Gold Community by the Tennessee Valley Authority.
      The award was given to city, county and university leaders Tuesday by TVA representatives during a ceremony at the Insight Park on campus. The LOU community is the only, and first, community to be given the gold deal designation in Mississippi.
      The designation, initiated by TVA Economic Development, helps communities improve existing sustainability programs and increase ability to attract new investment and jobs to their communities. (January 28, 2014, Page 1)

        TVA to close 8 coal-powered units

        The TVA Board of Directors voted Thursday to close eight of its coal plants, replacing two with natural gas plants. The meeting was held in Oxford at The Inn at Ole Miss for the first time since 2002. (November 15, 2013, Page 1A)

          TVA to meet in Oxford

          The Tennessee Valley Authority will meet in Oxford at 9 a.m. at The Inn at Ole Miss. TVA has not held its quarterly board meeting in Oxford since 2002. Citizens may address the board during the listening session starting at 9 a.m. before the rest of the meeting.
