Yocona International Folk Festival returns to The Grove

OXFORD TOWN – Youngsters and adults from across north Mississippi can get a taste of international culture, heritage, music and dance as the annual Yocona International Folk Festival completes its regional tour this Sunday with tons of events on the Ole Miss campus.     Scouts celebrate 100th birthday

    Hundreds gathered in the Grove during the 2010 Boy Scout Jamboree to celebrate 100 years of scouting. Despite the 100 degree weather, about 300 people attended the local event. Closing ceremonies were telecast live from the national ceremony into the Grove giving scouts an opportunity to “feel like they’re a part of the national event.” (August 2, 2010, Page 1)

        Summer Sunset Series concludes this Sunday with the Germantown Symphony

        OXFORD TOWN – This Sunday’s (June 27) Summer Sunset Series concert featuring the Germantown Symphony directed by Ron Vernon is expected to wind down the event in classic, laid-back fashion with plenty of folks in attendance.           Blackbird Hour to rock the Grove this Sunday

          OXFORD TOWN – The Sunset Series in the Grove rolls on this week, featuring a new project fronted by local musicians Brad Hayden and Dave Woolworth called The Blackbird Hour.  Page 11 of this week’s Oxford Town has Kate Anthony’s coverage of one of the new bands in town that’s literally popping up everywhere.             Sunset Series rolls on with the Swinging Prevaricators this Sunday

            The Summer Sunset Series continues this Sunday (June 13) after a hugely successful opening performance by the Mississippians Jazz Combo last week in the Grove. YAC’s Oxford Songwriter’s Showcase had to cancel for this Sunday but the new band, The Swinging Prevaricators, is filling in.
