    Maybelle’s Lovers set for the Sunset Series this Sunday evening

    OXFORD TOWN – Maybelle’s Lovers (frontwoman Gina Sexton pictured here by Mike Stanton) is a busy band these days with two scheduled shows this weekend around the L-O-U community. Catch them in the friendly confines of our beloved Grove this Sunday evening (June 17) at 7 for the Summer Sunset Series — and, as a warmup, be sure to catch them at Avent Park this Friday night (June 15) for OPC’s weekly production of Movies in the Park (music also begins at 7 for that family-friendly event).       Annual Summer Sunset Series returns to The Grove this Sunday evening

        Kenny Brown set for Sunset Series in the Grove this Sunday

        OXFORD TOWN – The 2011 Summer Sunset series rolls on this week featuring Kenny Brown, one of the veteran “hill country blues” musicians and a longtime partner of R.L. Burnside, bringing his mixture of country, blues and rock to the Grove Stage on Sunday, June 12.           Summer Sunset Series returns to The Grove

          OXFORD TOWN – Grab your kids, cooler and the biggest blanket you can find because Oxford’s favorite Sunday evening wind-down, the Summer Sunset Series in the Grove, begins its season this Sunday (June 5) on the Grove Stage  featuring Michael Worthy (pictured) and Friends with help from the Oxford Civic Chorus.             Summer Sunset Series concludes this Sunday with the Germantown Symphony

            OXFORD TOWN – This Sunday’s (June 27) Summer Sunset Series concert featuring the Germantown Symphony directed by Ron Vernon is expected to wind down the event in classic, laid-back fashion with plenty of folks in attendance.               Blackbird Hour to rock the Grove this Sunday

              OXFORD TOWN – The Sunset Series in the Grove rolls on this week, featuring a new project fronted by local musicians Brad Hayden and Dave Woolworth called The Blackbird Hour.  Page 11 of this week’s Oxford Town has Kate Anthony’s coverage of one of the new bands in town that’s literally popping up everywhere.                 Sunset Series rolls on with the Swinging Prevaricators this Sunday

                The Summer Sunset Series continues this Sunday (June 13) after a hugely successful opening performance by the Mississippians Jazz Combo last week in the Grove. YAC’s Oxford Songwriter’s Showcase had to cancel for this Sunday but the new band, The Swinging Prevaricators, is filling in.
