Steel Magnolias: Popular play breaks tradition
Theater Oxford’s rendition of the iconic 1987 play, Steel Magnolias opened Wednesday and runs through Sunday at The Powerhouse. Director Mike Ewing broke tradition and cast the show with actors who were deserving of the roles, even if they differed in appearance from the type of people traditionally cast in the roles. Endowment honors Oxford’s own steel magnolia
The Theatre Oxford production of Steel Magnolias has been dedicated to board member Pamela Massey who has been fighting cancer for several years. An endowment to benefit the theater group has been started in her honor. (August 24, 2012, Page 2B)
