Chargers clip Jackets to win 5A series
There have been bigger crowds turn out to watch games in the history of Oxford-University Stadium but the atmosphere and the post-game celebration demonstrated by the Oxford Chargers on Monday is going to be hard for the Ole Miss Rebels to top. OHS-Starkville series has been pretty intense
COLUMN: Ole Miss and Mississippi State will meet each other in their annual three-game series later this week at Oxford-University Stadium. The momentum gained by the Oxford Chargers with two impressive wins over the weekend came to an abrupt halt Tuesday at Edwin Moak Field. There won’t be an extra few days to bask in a strong finish to the regular season for the Oxford Chargers. Instead of opening their MHSAA Class 5A playoffs against Starkville on Thursday, the best-of-three series between the two has been moved up to tonight at Edwin Moak Field at 6. Chargers capture 5A North Half title
Oxford advanced to a sixth straight state championship in tennis by defeating Starkville 6-1 Friday afternoon. Rain forced the match to be played indoors at the Gillom Sports Center. STARKVILLE — Oxford’s goal of matching up with West Point in the MHSAA Class 5A North Half title game next week was derailed Friday night. While West Point defeated Ridgeland to reach the contest that determines half of the 5A title matchup in Jackson, the Chargers were beaten 28-7 by the Starkville Yellowjackets to end their season.
