    OHS girls take sting out of Lady Jackets

    Earning an amount of revenge for a regular-season loss is nice.

    Doing so to advance to the Class 5A North Half finals makes the Lady Chargers’ 2-0 victory over Starkville at Bobby Holcomb Stadium on Saturday even sweeter.

    Almost from the opening kickoff, Oxford set the tone in the game, controlling possession and dictating the pace of the game with strong passes to one another. (January 30, 2012, Page 4B)

      Jackets swarm Chargers in second round

      Motivated by what Starkville head coach Brian Bennett described as a less than desired performance in their regular-season matchup with Oxford, the visiting Jackets played an aggressive breed of soccer that netted them a 4-2 road victory and a trip to the third round of the Class 5A playoffs.

      The loss eliminates the Chargers (13-3-3 overall) from the playoffs. (January 30, 2012, Page 2B)
