Board reviews traffic calming policy
The Publics Work Department and Pathways Commission are working to revamp a traffic calming policy that may go into affect later this spring if approved by Oxford aldermen. Speed humps may pop up on another street
Speed humps on South 11th Street are complete and now city officials are taking a closer look at placing them on Buchanan Avenue. 11th Street to get speed humps
Residents on South 11th Street may soon have a bumpier drive on their way to their home. Mayor Pat Patterson announced Monday night that South 11th Street will be getting three speed humps to help slow down traffic on the neighborhood road. Residents signed a petition in March requesting the humps that will be 12-feet wide and 3 to 3.5 inches high. (October 16, 2012, Page 1, 12)

The Oxford Board of Aldermen advised the city engineer Tuesday to tweak a 2007 policy on allowing neighborhoods to request speed humps and include adding suggestions from board members and other city officials, including adding the Oxford Pathways Commission as the lead agency to determine priority.
