        United Way reaches goal

        Despite a down-turn in the economy, the United Way of Oxford and Lafayette County met and exceeded its $425,000 goal for its 2009 campaign, raising a total of $425,732 to be distributed to 16 of its partner agencies. (April 29, 2010, Page 1)

          Everyone wins at Special Olympics

          On Wednesday, 300 athletes from six counties participated in the Area 4 Special Olympics Track and Field event.
          The Olympics started at Oxford City Hall with the annual Cam Cooper lighting of the torch. The second Cam Cooper Volunteer of the Year Award was given to Michael Dupper who has played a major role in the Olympics since 1979.
