      Embry: Cougars can still pounce on Devils

      The South Pontotoc Cougars will be limping into Friday night’s Region 2-3A matchup at Water Valley having lost five straight games. Even with the Cougars’ current slide, Blue Devils head coach Brad Embry said his team won’t be overlooking their upcoming opponent. (October 4, 2012, Page 8)

        OHS, LHS teams clobber Cougars

        Oxford and Lafayette jump started the round robin portion NEMCABB Tournament in a big way Thursday at Edwin Moak Field.

        Lafayette defeated Oxford’s junior varsity squad 6-0 and then defeated South Pontotoc 11-1 in five innings.

        Oxford’s varsity then up-ended South Pontotoc 10-0 to conclude Day 1 of the Oxford Regional. (June 22, 2012, Page 6A)

          Blue Devils cap successful week with win over Pirates

          A week after losing to Yalobusha County rival Coffeeville on the road, the Water Valley Blue Devils defeated the Pirates 59-41 Saturday night at home. The victory improved the Blue Devils to 5-7 overall. (more…) (January 16, 2012, Page 9)

            Blue Devils’ Embry placing focus on his team more than Cougars

            WATER VALLEY — Fresh off of a thrilling overtime victory at Mooreville, the Blue Devils football team isn’t focusing as much on Friday’s opponent, the 2-5 South Pontotoc Cougars, as they are on themselves.

            Head coach Brad Embry said this week’s focus in practice has been correcting mistakes. (October 6, 2011, Page 6)

              5K Cougar Run and Mile Fun Run

              The South Pontotoc Cross Country teams will be hosting the 5K Cougar Run and Mile Fun Run on July 23 at the high school will proceeds going to benefit the programs.

              The race will be held on the Cougar Cross Country Trail at SPHS (1523 South Pontotoc Road). Registration will be from 7-7:45 a.m. with the 5K beginning at 8 a.m. and the fun run beginning soon after. (more…) (July 12, 2011, Page 7)

                Blue Devils fall to S. Pontotoc

                A late rally wasn’t enough to lift the Water Valley Blue Devils to a win over South Pontotoc on Tuesday night. WVHS fell 8-7 despite three hits each from Taylor King, John Michael Grimmett and J.D. Fondon. One of King’s hits was his eighth home run.                   Blue Devils win with ease Tuesday

                  If the first game is the toughest test, then Water Valley passed with ease Tuesday night, as the No. 3 seeded Blue Devils rolled to a 58-44 win over No. 6 seed South Pontotoc at Winona’s J.J.                     Defense, special teams lift WVHS past Cougars

                    The Water Valley Blue Devils (7-2, 2-1) won convincingly Friday night in a very important Region 2-3A game against the South Pontotoc Cougars (4-5, 2-1) as a tenacious defense and well-executed special teams unit were the difference in the 38-14 Blue Devil victory. (October 18, 2010, Page 1B)
