Planning Commission nixes Shaw project

The Oxford Planning Commission denied a request from a developer to build a maximum of 14 homes on the historic Shaw property Monday night, while approving, for the second time, a rezoning request from developers who want to build a shopping center off Highway 7. (March 11, 2014, Page 1,2)

    Shaw project hits a snag

    The Historic Preservation Commission tabled a request to demolish five structures on the same property as the Shaw house until the Mississippi Department of Archives and History can review the project. They approved repairs to the front porch of the historic home to keep it from falling down. (February 21, 2014, Page 1A, 9A)

      Mixed reviews for Shaw house project

      Plans to renovate the historic Shaw home on East Jackson Avenue, and the 5 acres surrounding it, will be up for review next week by two city commissions. (February 6, 2014, Page 1, 11)

        Landmark status sought for Shaw House

        The Oxford Historic Preservation Commission will be contacting the owners of the 165-year-old Shaw house  on Jackson Avenue East in hopes they will agree to allowing the city to pursue getting the house listed on the National Register of Historic Homes. (May 15, 2013, Page 1)
