‘Dores sharp again in rout of Warriors
The No. 1 ranked Lafayette Commodores dominated Senatobia in every aspect of the game Friday night, beating the Warriors 54-7 at William L Buford Stadium. Commodores won’t look past Warriors
The last couple of weeks the Lafayette Commodores have been able to name the score to their games.
While the gridiron Commodores remain a heavy favorite Friday when they host Senatobia at 7 p.m., coach Anthony Hart has been preparing his team this week for a battle at William L. Buford Stadium.
The Warriors enter the Region 2-4A matchup with a 4-2 record and are fresh off of lopsided victories over Byhalia and North Panola. Senatobia should also be fresh coming off of a bye week. (October 7, 2010, Page 6)
OMS Chargers sweep Senatobia
Oxford’s middle school teams performed well in all three phases to earn two wins over Senatobia on Tuesday night at Bobby Holcomb Field.
The seventh-grade Chargers defeated the Warriors 26-8, while the eighth-grade Chargers won 20-8. (September 15, 2010, Page 8)
Ivy paces Chargers win over Senatobia
A sluggish start on offense for the Oxford Chargers on Friday night was rectified by the speed of wide receiver Stan Ivy. Just a day after watching his son, Stantavias Ivy Jr., come into the world, Ivy played a big part in the Chargers’ 35-7 win over Senatobia.
Ivy scored three straight touchdowns in the game for Oxford, including two in an 11.8 second time span, that increased a 7-0 lead to 21-0 heading into halftime for the Chargers (3-1 overall). (September 13, 2010, Page 4B)
Chargers turn their sights to Senatobia
A final opportunity to work out some kinks and start to fine tune things against another solid opponent heading into region play is what Oxford faces this Friday night at Senatobia.
The Warriors (2-1 overall) are always a well-coached team and in the past have given the Chargers a lot to prepare for.
This year is no different said OHS coach Johnny Hill, who enjoys squaring off against SHS coach Phil Oakley. Oakley scolded his team after falling to Winona 45-21 in the opener and the motivational talk has resulted in a win over Corinth as well as a win last week over Tate County rival Independence. Lafayette baseball rallies to top Senatobia
The Lafayette baseball team has had a way with living on the edge since division play started, and whatever it’s doing is apparently working.
On Thursday, the Commodores were once again able to overcome adversity and rally in the sixth inning to defeat the Senatobia Warriors 8-7 at W.V. Brewer Field. (April 2, 2010, Page 6A)
