Oxford coach Chris Baughman had a big smile on his face following his team’s game with Senatobia at Edwin Moak Field on Thursday afternoon.
Sure he was glad that he and his staff were that much closer to concluding the four-day Spring Break Tournament, but the main reason was because of the success the Chargers had at the plate in an 11-1 win over the Warriors and the continued success of the team as they headed into the start of division play, which begins Tuesday at New Hope. A three-day break due to last week’s heavy snowstorm ended up being a huge help to the Lafayette Lady Commodores on Friday night against Senatobia. LHS broke a two-game losing streak in District 2-4A play by downing the Lady Warriors 71-38 in the LHS gym. The win improved the Lady Commodores to 14-3 overall and 4-2 in the district.
Lafayette’s boys weren’t as fortunate as the girls, losting to Senatobia 49-40 in the nightcap. (January 17, 2011, Page 8)
