Wonder if these letters to Santa were written?

Editor Don Whitten, who’s been typing letters to Santa Claus from children around the community, wondered what letters from some well-known folks might have said. He’s speculates on letters from football coaches, school personnel, et cetera. (December 19, 2012, Page 4)

          School’s out for summer – what’s next?

The morning and afternoon traffic lines at the schools are disappearing and a car stereo or two was heard blaring Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out.” Editor Don Whitten writes that means it’s time to start making summer vacation plans. What are you thinking about? (May 21, 2012, Page 4)

School days can combine fun, education

Summers seem to be getting shorter

The countdown has gotten serious. No, not the countdown until the start of preseason football practice or the countdown to the first game this season, but rather the countdown to students returning to school. Editor Don Whitten points out that the summer break seemed to start just a few weeks ago, and now there are signs pointing toward school buses, shopping trips for new clothes and changing summer schedules for school mornings. (July 12, 2010, Page 4)
