Lafayette House Districts to change

    New districts get OK from DOJ

    The Department of Justice has approved Lafayette County’s new district maps which needed changing after the 2010 Census showed a growth and shift in population. (May 21, 2013, Page 1, 14)

      New ward map approved

      No objections were received by city officials in regards to the redistricting map drawn up by Three Rivers Planning and Development during a public hearing Tuesday. Later, during the Oxford Board of Aldermen, the new map was approved by the board and will be sent to the U.S. Department of Justice for its final approval. The new city ward structure will not affect this year’s election. (August 8, 2012, Page 1)

        City voting wards reworked

        The newly appointed Oxford Redistricting Committee reviewed a proposed redistricting map Wednesday. The map will be available online, www.oxfordms.net, or at City Hall for the public to view prior to a public hearing to be planned for sometime in June. The new map brings down Oxford’s deviation from the One Man, One Vote rule from 50.2 percent to 5 percent. (May 24, 2012, Page 1)
