Lafayette fastest growing county in state

Based on recent population trends, Lafayette County is now the fastest growing county in the state, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. New numbers also reveal that the city of Oxford has reached a “milestone” in its population. (May 24, 2013, Page 1A)

    OSD enrollment up 5.5 percent

    There are 3,938 students enrolled at Oxford School District this year, up more than 200 from last year and far exceeding estimates. (August 28, 2012, Page 1, 3)

      Lafayette’s population booms

      Data released this week from the U.S. Census shows Lafayette County as being the fastest growing nonmetropolitan area in Mississippi with a 22.2 percent increase of population since 2000. The city of Oxford also grew over the last 10 years going from the 35th biggest city in the state to the 20th biggest city. (February 4, 2011, Page 1A)
